How to Choose the Right Mezzanine for Your Warehouse
A raised floor can double your usable space — but only if it is designed around how you actually work. Here is what to weigh up before you build.
A well-designed mezzanine is one of the fastest ways to add usable space without moving premises or extending your building. But the difference between a platform that works and one that gets in the way comes down to the planning stage.
Start with how you use the space
Before anything else, map your workflow. Where do forklifts travel? Where are your pick faces, load zones and emergency egress routes? A mezzanine should be engineered around your racking and clearances — not dropped on top of them.
Design for the load, not just the footprint
Storage, offices and production areas all carry very different loads. Getting the structural rating right from the outset keeps you compliant and avoids expensive rework later. Every structure we deliver is engineered to the relevant Australian Standards, including AS 1657.
